Promoting Crime in South Carolina

Dear Mr. Waugh,
We have had several visitors inquire about the Sailing Museum of Charleston, which led us to your website http://www.maxwaugh.com/design/index.html
and http://www.sailingmuseum.org/. Unfortunately, visitors to Charleston are viewing this site, which includes our map and
information on our museum sites, then attempting to visit your Sailing Museum. Also, because your mock site claims Free Parking for the Sailing Museum is available through our parking
facilities we are experiencing unauthorized parking in our small lot. We ask that you please remove our map and the information from your site.
Thank you for your assistance in this matter.

In a follow up email, this person adds: Yes, the situation is a bit absurd considering the nature of your site.
Ed. Note - This truly is an absurd and humorous situation. But as I pointed out in my response, if so many people are interested in visiting a maritime museum in Charleston, perhaps we
need to get one built! In the meantime, I removed any offending information to hopefully avoid future conflicts. If you'd like to visit the Sailing Museum in the future, please do
not park in the Charleston Museum's lot.
Just For Kicks
July 8, 2006
Ed. Note - This is a mildly amusing/mildly disturbing letter I received. Please note that it contains an "adult" theme.
Saw some of your photo's and decided to write. I LOVE The Song Girls! I hate that USC decided to be so preppie in re-naming them The Song Leaders. Geez! They'll always be The Song
Girls to me!
If you have regular access to being able to photograph The Song Girls you can make some very good cold, hard cash - paid through PayPal -
selling to me; 6 X 7 negatives which I prefer most, 35mm negatives or very high resolution JPEG files on CD, of the prettiest Song Girls doing
their famous "High Kicks". JPEG files should be large enough to clearly print up to 20" X 30" or 16" X 20" at the very least.
I want strictly high kicks photo's. The photo's would be strictly for my own viewing and would NEVER be posted, sold, exchanged with others, etc.
I am 100% honest and would abide by what I state above.
I have two postings on eBay's "Want It Now" trying to find photographers to photograph both:
The Song Girls
and
The Kilgore College Rangerettes.
I am looking for photographers that want to establish a very long-term - I HOPE - business relationship. Should you be interested in earning extra cash photographing "The Girls" for
me, please reply ASAP. Thank you!
Most Sincerely,
XXXX X

Springtime Comes Early to Alaska
March 31, 2004
This morning... I came across your web site... and went down memory lane with your shots of the Netherlands. Even though I was only there for 2 years...
talk about homesick for the Saturday markets and the flowers at "K". You have some truly beautiful photos. The ones of the close-ups of the orchids are
outstanding. Then... I went to your home page and saw the pic of the tulips w/ barn and I went hunting for that one ("Horizon") and sure enough - it was taken
in Mt. Vernon (I grew up in Seattle too).
Being in the interior of Alaska and 20 some odd inches of snow on the ground, I'm homesick for anything that reminds me of spring. And that
somewhere there are daffodils popping up and crocus are already "full out!"
Thanks so much,

I have looked at many sports web sites before, but few have captured the untold story of sports like maxwaugh.com. So, if you love sports,
add maxwaugh.com to your list of favorites.

Dear Mr. Waugh-cum-Van W,
On behalf of the 3P Campaign [Pathetic, Psychotic Postgraduates (who spend too much time on the internet)], I am delighted to inform you that, at
our recent meeting--five minutes ago, we have decided to nominate you for an honorary degree from the University of Oxford for your philanthropic
contributions to pathetic, psychotic postgraduates worldwide.
I hope it will please you to know that your website has provided hours of procrastination from scholarly research for doctoral students even here
across the Atlantic ocean. Your words are like those of a prophet, surely ranked third only below those of Siddhartha or Mohammed, and vastly more
humanizing. We find inspiration in your struggles against the evils of crass Fox executives and neanderthalic Olympic committee members not
appreciating the ferocious athleticism of tug-of-warring. We are glued to our computer screens anxiously awaiting your further insights on
lausidigitalcameritis and hottiesexodusism.
While we are uncertain if our nomination will be successful, given our limited membership of 2 1/2, we do hope that the (in)sanity that your
adventures have brought into our miserable existence will behoove the University Congregation to award you a M. AD. in Psychology degree. We shall,
of course, contact you immediately should the nomination be successful. Until then, we salute you (with what?)!
Yours with Silly-Giggly-Prepubescent-California-Girl-Adoration,

Ed. Note - Contrary to popular belief, the recent defeat suffered by the University of Washington crew team at the hands of Oxford at the Royal Henley
Regatta is not the reason I will not be present to accept this honor. My busy club schedule during the upcoming London tour will preclude
me from traveling to Oxford to accept the degree (pending acceptance by the committee, of course). However, I am deeply honored to receive this sort of
appreciation and recognition from such a renowned and respected institution.

Mr. Max Waugh
MaxWaugh.com
Dear Mr. Waugh:
Recently, The University of Michigan became aware that pictures of some of our currently enrolled football student-athletes are being sold on your
website. Specifically, your site is selling pictures taken during the 2002 Washington-Michigan football game that include some of our currently
enrolled student-athletes. Moreover, the following football student-athletes did not give permission to commercially market their pictures in this
promotion:
#3: Marlin Jackson #31: Zia Combs
#6: Victor Hobson #35: B.J. Askew
#16: John Navarre #43: Carl Diggs
#21: Jeremy LeSueur #53: Shantee Orr
#23: Chris Perry #57: Dave Pearson
#24: Charles Drake #62: Courtney Morgan
#26: Julius Curry #77: Tony Pape
#27: Calvin Bell #80: Braylon Edwards
#30: Markus Curry #97: Shawn Lazarus
NCAA rules prohibit the use of any currently enrolled student-athlete's name or picture when the student-athlete in question has eligibility
remaining. Such use is classified by the NCAA as a non-permissible promotional activity involving a currently enrolled student-athlete and
jeopardizes the eligibility of said athlete.
In order to protect the continuing eligibility of our football student-athletes, NCAA rules require the University to take appropriate steps to
prevent these non-permissible promotional activities. For this reason, the University requests that your organization immediately cease and
desist the use and sale of any images in which our student-athletes are pictured now and in the future.
Thank you for your assistance in complying with NCAA regulations and your timely attention to this matter. If you have any questions or require
additional information, please do not hesitate to contact me.
Sincerely,
XXXXXXXXX

Ed. Note - Our friends from Ann Arbor were not aware of the existing note on the photo order page which
states that I do not sell photos of college athletes, and that I post and maintain said photos for the enjoyment of all sports fans, regardless of
affiliation. The author of the letter was placated upon enlightenment, though they refused to respond to my query as to whether they'd like me
to sell photos of Ohio State players. Invitations to join my March Madness pool were also ignored.
