Max was born in the spring of 1976 and has lived in the Pacific Northwest ever since. The son of two professors, Max has naturally shied away
from educational endeavors throughout his life. Despite a number of missed classes and hastily-written, last-minute papers, he somehow managed
to come away from the University of Washington with some semblance of a degree.
For the last decade, Max has been photographing wildlife, travel and sports subjects professionally. He has been a finalist in the presitgious BBC Wildlife Photographer of the Year competition, and his work has appeared in such publications as Africa Geographic and ESPN the Magazine. He also covers University of Washington athletics near his home in the Seattle area.
Max teaches introductory photo classes in the Seattle area and is leading his first photo tour to Costa Rica in March 2012. Click here to learn more about Max's workshops and tours.
Since 2003, Max has traveled to South Africa, Patagonia, the Great Bear Rainforest in Canada, China, Belgium & Holland, Russia, Spain, Yellowstone (a couple times per year),
New Zealand (twice), Fiji, Costa Rica (x4), Greece, the
UK (twice), Ecuador, Sweden, Rwanda and Tanzania. See more about these journeys in the Travel Section.
What's next? Peru, Yellowstone, South Africa... who knows where else!
Feel free to submit suggestions for the next exotic locale you think Max should visit.
