TotSites TotSites
http://www.totsites.com
TotSites.com allows new and expecting parents to build and maintain a web site for their baby. Using automated admin functionality, parents can upload photos, videos, journal entries and other features to a cute site devoted to their child.

One of the great features of TotSites.com allows parents to choose and swap out special design themes for their baby's site at any time. The folks at TotSites asked me to come up with some of these themes and templates. Some of my more popular designs include the animated Rain Forest theme, the pink Princess design and several seasonal and holiday layouts. With over 20 completed Max Waugh designs and dozens more in the works, TotSites has solidified its niche with the most dynamic offering of available baby themes on the web.

Brenda Z. Guiberson, children's author Brenda Z. Guiberson
http://www.brendazguiberson.com
Brenda Guiberson is an award-winning children's author and illustrator who specializes in science-oriented tales for young readers. Brenda's stories take readers through rain forests, deserts, the polar ice caps and beyond, all the while teaching the reader about the animals and plants that live there.

Brenda's site took a year's worth of oft-interrupted planning and design, but the project finally got rolling in spring of 2005. The site incorporates artwork from Brenda's books, mild earth tones reminiscent of the natural subjects Brenda writes about, and comprehensive details and class projects pertaining to her writing. I even designed and created custom games featuring themes from Brenda's work, suitable for children of various ages. The site was completed in time for the release of Brenda's latest title, Mud City.

the Sailing Museum The Sailing Museum
http://www.sailingmuseum.org
This project was one of my favorites, built from scratch with complete freedom and flexibility for all of my design choices. Why? Because the Sailing Museum of Charleston doesn't actually exist. I built this web site as part of a "birthday adventure" (think scavenger hunt) for my girlfriend.

The goal of the birthday adventure was to trace the path of a not-so-famous pirate. Unraveling the mystery of this buccaneer, my girlfriend uncovered pieces of his hidden treasure, along with other clues to keep the adventure going. The Sailing Museum web site provides the story and background details of the pirate, Maxim Vasilii, and offers hidden clues for those treasure hunters daring enough to follow in his footsteps. Note: The UW School of Nursing liked the design so much, they used it as the basis for their new International Programs site.

Aug 2006 Update: I have since used the site for another birthday adventure (this time involving African explorers). In the meantime, people having been finding the site online and have actually tried visiting the Sailing Museum!

This page offers examples of my graphic design work. While I primarily work as a Web designer, I also have experience in a number of other disciplines. These include photography, print design, project management, technical writing, QAT and more.

While I have performed work for a number of larger corporations, I specialize in web design for smaller companies and individuals with limited budgets. I relish my longstanding relationships with my clients and the opportunity to work more intimately with them on their site designs and continued site maintenance.

In addition, I have established partnerships with others in the Web development industry. This collaboration allows me to offer clients a full scope of services:
