-Manchester-
Extremely late, as it turned out. The rail officials had the foresight to run a special train for the late arriving fans to Old Trafford. Unfortunately, we had all our bags with us. We found the luggage storage at the station, but it was full! First half missed. All we could do was get a cab to the hostel where we'd drop our bags, and then high tail it to the stadium.
As we were approaching Old Trafford, a great roar went up, and the fans broke out in the Solskjaer song. We'd obviously missed at least one score. We got inside and reached the top level right before half time. Asked a gentleman what the score was...

"5-1."

yorke and keano
that's the ticket I asked if he was joking. He wasn't. Flashbacks of the 7-1 and 3-3 scoring fests we had nearly traveled to Manchester to see in the past year. Now we were actually here, and we still managed to miss it! Yorke had a hat trick in the first 22 minutes, Solskjaer and Keane added the others. We also knew that with the game out of hand, the second half would not be terribly exciting. Fcuk!
Oh well. We did get to see a Sheringham goal in the 90th minute. Even though we were in the second-to-last row of the top deck, the seats were still good and the view nothing to complain about.

Game over, Pizza Hut stop ("I just love your accents," we were told), and long walk back to the hostel. Watched extended highlights of Liverpool's shootout win in the Worthington Cup final over Birmingham. Then, lights out at 7pm.

Got up on time today, made it to the airport and on our flight. I already miss London, but certainly not Manchester!
