London good, Manchester bad. Manchester United good, Arsenal bad (for a day).
The people: friendly; we didn't encounter any nastiness or snobbery, though a dig about American tourists (who says it isn't deserved?) was
overheard on the tube. They take things a bit too seriously for my tastes, and could stand to loosen up. The best (i.e.- least conservative)
dancers weren't from the U.K.
Lasting memories? Expensive. Old Trafford. FCUK. The seeming lack of a nationwide dental plan. Our scams. The cooperative weather (mild
but for a beautiful snowfall). Ciao Bella. The Flying Finn. Crazy guy behind the bar. Piccadilly!
