Early start today. Got breakfast (a choice of corn flakes, toast, coffee or tea), then took off for the Tower o' London. We latched onto a Beefeater tour there. Interesting, and our guide was pretty funny. The Tower was cool, and more importantly, so were the stories behind it. The jewels were alright, the ravens pretty friggin' 'uge.
is that a cannon, or are you just...?
After the Tower, it was time for Piccadilly(!). We had decided to see a matinee of the Reduced Shakespeare Company's performance of the Bard's complete works. It was hilarious, as advertised. Never thought I'd see sock puppets humping in a Shakespeare play... Money well spent.
"Never thought I'd see sock puppets humping
in a Shakespeare play."
Back to the hostel, and this time we had to go watch Liverpool. Liverpool-Roma was nuts. Ammonito everywhere, missed PK by Owen, reversed PK call by the ref, and some insane, drunk L'pool fans.
Party time at Belushi's, the hostel's built-in pub. They had a cover duo, doing mainly techno/house stuff. Her voice was incredible. He was simply a freak. Between them and the music between sets, we heard some songs 3-4 times. Blah. It was fun though. Heard Paul van Dyk's "For an Angel" for the first time in a dance atmosphere. Jason was trashed and went a little loose on the dance floor. It took me a while, but I finally got going too. The Brits are tighter on the floor (as in "up tight") than I expected. A lot of them were taken aback, scared, and maybe impressed by our style. Of course, some of those were "dodgy men." I don't think we'll be going to the club they recommended. Okay, I'm spent.
