September 6: A new season of Husky football brought the spectre of the hardest schedule in the country and muted hopes for the Washington faithful. Perhaps the only optimism came from the notion that Jake Locker's dynamic athletic talents could will the Dawgs to victory over a murderer's row of September opponents. The talented quarterback's lonely scramble against BYU sybmolizes the dearth of experience or talent surrounding him. His comeback against the Cougars fell short, and a couple games later Locker was lost for the season with a thumb injury.
