May 23: I was only able to fit in one Yellowstone trip in 2009 and, being in May, it was thankfully another good one. The first day of the trip was highlighted by this amazing sight: a flying badger. She wasn't just hunting, she was mousing, a behavior that is common in foxes or coyotes (and occasionally wolves), but not something I ever imagined I'd see a badger do. Who knew this flat little critter actually has hops!
