Our time at the falconry was very educational, as well as entertaining. Did you know that owls sport different colored eyes for a reason? Those with dark brown or black eyes (such as this species) are strictly nocturnal hunters. Owls with yellow eyes (snowy owls, great horned owls) hunt during the day, while those with orange eyes (see following pages) hunt during both day and night.
