How to use the interactive Yellowstone Map: It's easy! Use your mouse to click and drag the map to your desired location. The built-in controls allow you to zoom in and out, switch between a road map or satellite imagery, or even combine the two!
Using the Key: To choose particular Yellowstone features or animal species that interests you, simply select the appropriate checkboxes at right. Icons will appear on the map. *Hint* Click on an icon to learn more about the location and/or see a photo. By clicking a link in the icon's pop-up window, you will be taken to the photo page in a new browser window.
Please note: map load time may vary due to traffic on the Google server. Please be patient!
About the Map:
The locations compiled on this map were gathered by Max Waugh during his travels to Yellowstone National Park every year from 2000 to present.
Thanks to mdmatt, Vicky, Rialena, Hélène, Steve, Maniuk, Dave, Bill, Sagebrusher, Bart, Kevin, Kyle, Melanie, Janet, Gerald, Dave Stiles and Jim of the Yellowstone.net Forums, and Peter Kiermeier for providing
additional sightings and keypoints.
The keypoints on the map are approximated based on these experiences, and were not compiled using a GPS device. Please remember that wildlife movement is often
unpredictable. This map is intended to give the user an approximate idea of where certain species may roam, but certainly does not offer any guarantees of sightings.
For additional information about some of these sightings, read Max's trip reports or view Max's Yellowstone Photos.
Also find useful information and get your questions answered at the Yellowstone.net Forums.
We hope this helps you plan a successful wildlife-viewing trip to Yellowstone!
