7/16: Kathie Lynch has another excellent report about the Druid Wolves and Otters at Trout Lake.
7/6: Kathie Lynch has the latest Wolf report from Yellowstone.
6/24-31: katahdin spotted Bighorn Sheep and a Badger near Soda Butte, Grizzly and Black Bears in the Lamar, at Pebble Creek and near Tower, and Foxes in Jackson and at Colter Bay.
5/30: Wolves were on a carcass at Canyon Junction, Maniuk found another Wolf at Sheepeater Cliff, several Grizzly Bears were seen between Canyon Junction and Hayden Valley.
5/29: Helene spotted Badgers in the Lamar Valley, Bryan found Otters at Steamboat Point and Bill discovered a Fox in the park's northeast corner.
5/28: Bill saw Coyote Pups in the Lamar Valley and a Fox at the Slough Creek campground. Max saw a Pine Marten past Baronette, two Moose at Warm Creek and 6 Black Bears between Blacktail Lakes and Calcite Springs.
5/27: Stacy saw a Badger at Slough Creek. Max spied Wolves and Moose at Petrified Tree, Moose at Floating Island Lake and Golden Eagles near the Confluence. Bill ran into two Grizzly Bears between Sedge and Mary Bays.
5/26: Helene and Rene saw a Wolf near Canyon. Katie spotted Harlequin Ducks at Tower Fall.
5/25: Max saw several Black Bears along the Tower Road and more between Roosevelt and Little America, a new Osprey nest in the western Lamar, two Moose at Petrified Tree and a Golden Eagle being divebombed by Hawks in the eastern Lamar.
5/24: Sharon and Bryan saw a Mountain Lion in Lamar Canyon. Bill encountered a Fox and Bighorn Sheep at the Yellowstone Picnic Area Trail.
5/23: In only one hour, Max saw Bighorn Sheep above the Rescue Creek trail, a Swan and nesting Sandhill Crane at Floating Island Lake, a Bull Moose at Petrified Tree and three Black Bears between Floating Island Lake and Tower.
5/21: There's been a lot of good viewing lately: Rosie's Black Bear Cubs are hanging out at Tower, a Grizzly has been seen frequently at Grizzly Lake and the rarely-seen Gibbon Wolf Pack has been spotted between Gibbon Meadows and Indian Creek.
5/13: Cathy reports seeing two Wolves near Hellroaring, a Grizzly near the Yellowstone Picnic Area, a young Black Bear near Tower and lots of Bluebirds.
5/12: Billy spotted Moose, Elk, and Bighorns on his way in from the east entrance, and then saw a Grizzly with cubs at Mary Bay.
5/10: Kevin hiked up the Tower Road and saw several Black Bears, including Rosie and her two new cubs!
5/9: In non-wildlife news, Giantess Geyser erupted for the first time since June, 2006!
5/4: Jaime Johnson continues to get some spectacular Wolf photos from the Lamar Valley.
5/2-3: Cea reports Grizzlies at LeHardy Rapids, Mud Volcano, Biscuit Basin and Fountain Flats, and a Peregrine Falcon at Bridge Bay.
4/25-27: Willem saw Wolves and Elk in the Lamar, a Grizzly at Slough Creek, Wolves, Coyotes, Eagles and Cranes at Blacktail Ponds and Bald Eagles at Gibbon Meadows. Katie reports Cranes and a Fox at Floating Island Lake. Cindy watched Coyotes chase a Bear at Petrified Tree.
4/21: There has been heavy Grizzly Bear action the last several days at Old Faithful!
4/20: Stacy reports Bighorn Sheep near the Yellowstone River, Baby Bison at Elk Creek and Bald Eagles at Blacktail Ponds.
4/12-19: Tim biked through the park and saw Bison and Elk at Mammoth, Druid Wolves in Lamar, Leopold Wolves near Wraith Falls, Slough Wolves at their Slough Creek den and the Agate Pack hunting near Slough Creek.
3/25: Dave Shumway might've seen the first Badger of the year in the Lamar Valley. Great photos, Dave!
3/22: A Grizzly Bear was seen at Hellroaring and 3 Beavers were also spotted. Kevin reports a Fox sighting at Mammoth and a Badger in Little America. Spring is around the corner!
3/20: The first Grizzly Bear sightings of the year have been reported in the park.
3/9: All through March, Kevin Nahler is posting daily trip reports and photos from Yellowstone. Kevin has had some wonderful Wolf, Bighorn Sheep, Fox and Golden Eagle sightings, and reports that a Mountain Lion was seen recently as well.
2/28: The Yellowstone Association lists recent some sightings on their web site, including Wolves, Foxes, and even a Mountain Lion near Ice Box Canyon. Kathie Lynch has another excellent Wolf report on the height of the mating season.
2/16-17: Stacy watched Wolves play with a Golden Eagle in the Lamar, and also spotted a Vulture nearby. Tammy watched the Druid Wolves in the Lamar as well as some interesting interaction between the Leopold Wolf Pack and an Agate female near Elk Creek.
2/12: Dave glimpsed a Mountain Lion near Yankee Jim Canyon.
2/10: Bill saw Wolves near Slough Creek, Elk Creek and the Confluence, Bighorns at the Confluence and Elk near Rescue Creek.
1/19-21: Max saw Wolves in Little America, Slough Creek and the Lamar Valley, Bighorn Sheep at Mammoth and the Confluence in Lamar, lots of Coyotes everywhere, Golden and Bald Eagles in the Lamar, Moose near Baronette and a Bobcat about 20 miles north of Gardiner on Hwy 89. The Hayden Wolves were also seen again at the Mammoth bridge.
1/15: Wolf sightings have been frequent: the Druids at Round Prairie and Soda Butte this week and the Haydens near Mammoth. A Bobcat has been seen frequently along the West Entrance Road this winter.
1/7: Stacy has news on the Hayden Wolf Pack, recently seen near Mammoth. She also spotted several Coyotes at Mammoth and the Lamar Valley.
1/6: A Bobcat was spotted at the Confluence.
1/4: Check out this article on a very rare Lynx sighting between Norris and Madison. Wow!
12/30: Kathie Lynch reports on the latest Wolf news.
11/3: The Wolf chase continues, as the Haydens have outrun the Mollies up past Canyon. The Madison River Bald Eagle nest is being rebuilt after collapsing several weeks ago.
11/1: Ralph Maughan has the latest on the tense conflict between the Mollies and Hayden Wolves, which has already left the Hayden alphas dead.
10/13-14: Katie reports Wolves in the Lamar and at Slough Creek, a Grizzly at the Confluence, a Black Bear and cub at Petrified Tree, a view of the Oxbow Pack from Hellroaring and large Bull Elk at Mammoth and along the Madison River.
10/11-12: Brian spotted Grizzlies, Coyotes, Elk, Wolves and Pronghorns in the Lamar Valley, and a huge Grizzly near Lewis Lake.
9/24: Ralph Maughan gives a rundown on the park's Wolves.
9/22-23: M, H & R saw Black Bears near Phantom Lake, a Great Gray Owl again near Canyon, and several Moose near Jackson Lake Lodge, Oxbow Bend, Moose Junction and the Jackson Lake Dam in the Tetons.
9/20-21: M, H & R saw bugling Elk Bulls at Mammoth, a Great Gray Owl south of Canyon, Great Blue Herons in Hayden Valley, Black Bears on the Tower Road and at Elk Creek, and 15 Wolves and a Grizzly at Slough Creek. Bart also saw a Fox at Roosevelt.
9/16: Katie witnessed a Grizzly cub near Dunraven Pass, two Trumpeter Swans at the confluence of Elk Antler Creek and the Yellowstone River, and a Bull Elk with harem at Mammoth.
9/14: Matt spotted Grizzly Bears near Dunraven Pass and in the Lamar Valley, and Black Bears near Tower, Dunraven Pass and in the Lamar.
8/27: Katie reports a Bull Elk with harem at Mammoth, several Bears near Dunraven Pass, and a young Mountain Lion near Blacktail Plateau.
8/4-11: Don saw tons of Grizzlies on a kill in Hayden Valley, Wolves in Hayden and Lamar Valleys, Mountain Goats on Baronette Peak, Bighorns on Mt. Washburn, and a Grizzly sow and cubs at Soda Butte Creek.
8/2: Kathie Lynch has the latest on the Wolves of Yellowstone.
7/30-8/1: Stacy spotted several Moose near Cooke City, a Grizzly with Cubs and Black bear with Cub near each other on Mt. Washburn, 7 Wolves in the Lamar Valley and the Hayden Pack's alpha female Wolf.
7/14-20: Max saw Black bears near Hellroaring, Petrified Tree, Roosevelt and south of Fishing Bridge, a Grizzly with cubs on the road above Antelope Flats, Bighorn Sheep, Grouse, Marmots, and a Fox on Mt. Washburn, Eaglets testing their wings on the West Entrance Road, 2 Moose with calves at Soda Butte/Trout Lake and the road north of Canyon, Ospreys near Madison and Calcite Springs, Wolf Pups at Otter Creek and a lone Wolf near Mt. Washburn.
6/23: Ed and Sarah saw an Otter at Trout Lake and 11 Bears between Hayden Valley and Floating Island Lake.
6/22: Kyle and Melanie sighted a Fox in Hayden Valley.
6/14,15: Dave reported Marmots near Dunraven Pass, Black bears near Petrified Tree, Mountain Goats and Bighorn Sheep on Baronette Peak, Moose at Tower and Ground Squirrels at Mammoth.
6/12,13: Dave saw Harlequin Ducks at LeHardy Rapids, Pelicans at Fishing Bridge, Coyote pups near Gibbon Falls, and a Grizz with cub near Mt. Washburn.
6/11: Dave spotted Black bears at Petrified Tree and near Roosevelt, Ospreys along the Tower Road, Moose at Tower and a Grizz with cubs near Mt. Washburn.
6/9: Roger encountered a Grizzly Bear on the Elephant Back trail.
6/7: Donna and Kathy saw and Elk calf at Grant Village, Marmots at Sheepeater Cliff and 3 Moose near Kepler Cascades.
6/6: Connie lucked into seeing a Mountain Lion about 5 miles outside of Red Lodge.
6/5: Kathie Lynch reports that the Slough Creek Wolf Pack may have as many as 6 litters!
6/4: Vicky watched Coyote pups at a den near the Gibbon River.
6/3: Helene saw a Cinnamon Black Bear with two cubs near Mammoth, 2 Moose and Sandhill Cranes with 2 chicks at Floating Island Lake, a Bald Eagle at Sylvan Lake, a Grizzly with 2 cubs at the Chittenden Road parking lot, and Bighorn sheep babies along the Tower road. Katie saw an Otter at Trout Lake, an active Coyote Den east of Soda Butte and Peregrine Falcon and Osprey nests across from the Tower road.
5/26: In the last few days, Max spotted a Great Gray Owl near Canyon Junction, Bighorn Sheep babies at Mammoth and adults on Mt. Washburn, Grizzly Bears at Lake and Hayden Valley, Black Bears at Tower, Roosevelt, and Petrified Tree, Moose at Tower Road and Petrified Tree. Bart found a Badger in Little America. In the Tetons, Helene and Rene spotted Fox at Jackson Lake Lodge and the East Entrance, Black Bear at Oxbow Bend and near Signal Mountain.
5/22: The Slough Creek Wolves feasted on a carcass in Little America, Max spotted Red-Tailed Hawks and a Golden Eagle in the Lamar Valley and Moose near the northeast entrance.
5/21: Bart watched Rosie and her cubs on the Tower Road, Maniuk spotted a Black Bear on the Hellroaring hike and a Fox in Swan Lake Flats, and Max saw a Cinnamon Black Bear at Petrified Tree and Pelicans at Fishing Bridge.
5/20: Max, Helene and Rene saw Grizzlies throughout Little America and Lamar Valley, 9 Mountain Goats on Baronette Peak, a Snake and an Otter at Trout Lake, Bighorn Sheep at the Yellowstone Picnic Area and a Black Bear at Rainy Lake.
5/19: Max was attacked by a Grouse at Tower, saw another near Petrified Tree, watched Coyote Pups at dens near Petrified Tree and the Self-Guided Tour boardwalk at Blacktail, saw a Black Bear near Floating Island Lake, Badger in the Lamar Valley and Great Horned Owl Nests at Tower and Mammoth. Bill saw a Grizz in Hayden and Lamar Valleys, a Pine Marten on the road between Norris and Canyon, two Moose at Floating Island Lake.
5/15: Maniuk witnessed a Fox at Rainy Lake and Wolves at Slough Creek, while Bill saw a Fox on the Yellowstone Picnic Area Trail.
5/14: Bill encountered Rosie and her cubs, plus another Black Bear at Tower.
5/13: Maniuk saw Black Bears and Moose near Petrified Tree.
5/12: Sandhill Cranes have two eggs on a nest at Floating Island Lake, Bald Eagles have chicks in the nest on the West Entrance Road.
5/9: Ralph Maughan has news on the Hayden and Druid Wolves' denning situations, as well as tragedy in the Mollie's Pack.
5/7: Tammy saw some of the Oxbow Wolf pack's new puppies from the Hellroaring Overlook.
