Castor canadensis
Saw a beaver for the first time here since '97... actually saw the first one during the backcountry hike to Shoshone Lake, but he chose to hide inside his den rather than pose for pictures. This specimen was so massive we initially thought it was a bear cub roaming in the tall grasses near the Lamar River. Then he plopped into the water and let the current carry him away...
