The Disappearing Owl
The great horned owl nest at Mammoth was abandoned by the time we came in July, but the owlets had been seen in the area on and off. On our last night in the park, we were lucky to see one of them. Unfortunately, the little tyke was being harrassed nonstop by robins, which were screeching and divebombing the owl constantly. At one point the owl huddled up next to the chimney, but the robins still found it. One swoop was all it took, and the owl suddenly disappeared over the side of the roof (below)!
