Great Gray Owl
Strix nebulosa

Another of my first-time wildlife encounters on this trip involved a great gray owl, which was seen by many people near Canyon Junction. On this evening, the owl was practically posing on a dead snag in the middle of a clearing. Simply a great photo opportunity, even in the waning light.
