The wolf continued down toward the road, shadowed the whole way by sightseers and photographers. One person even hopped in their van and drove ahead of the wolf to intercept it. Finally, park rangers and wolf volunteers held the crowd back as the wolf reached the road. It continued west in the morning sunlight before disappearing over a hillside.
Update: The Slough alpha was struck and killed by a vehicle in Yellowstone in September, 2007. :(
