I have this annoying tendency to not stay out terribly late in Yellowstone. Perhaps it's because there aren't a ton of good sunset vistas in the northern range where I'm usually hunting for wildlife. That and I'm lazy.
However, on this particular evening we had a long haul from the eastern part of the park back to our hotel, so we were still on the road closing in on 10pm. And despite being somewhat early in the evening, the new moon was already slip sliding away over the horizon. I found a pullout and managed to fire a few shots with the big lens before it disappeared behind the trees.
