The last of my “big” trips this year was my autumn Yellowstone/Grand Teton photo tour, which took place in late September. In case you missed it, I filed my usual trip reports from the parks during my week-long stay. Now that I’ve returned home, I’ve had a chance to process all of the images from the trip, which presented a mix of wildlife and landscape photo opportunities.

The autumn colors were in fine form in Yellowstone, and just rounding into peak shape in the Beartooth and the Grand Tetons.

The new overlook of Grand Prismatic Spring offers a safer, clear viewpoint of North America’s largest hot spring.

During my latest visit to the Beartooth Pass, we found two mountain goats, still sporting the remnants of last winter’s fur.

The elk rut produced a magical morning for us on this trip, when we found several bulls in action during a cold sun-drenched morning on Swan Lake Flat.

The moment this bull followed his cows onto a steamy, shadow-strewn hillside, it became my favorite elk shoot to date.
